| 97 | 481 Add An Event | General Hadrian, a military commander in the Iberian provinces, leads an army from the west against General Probus, the supreme commander of the eastern army. Hadrian's forces engage Probus and his army at Athenae, the provincial capital of Achaea. Although Athenae is unbreachable for Hadrian's forces, he uses a clever tactic that Julius Caesar himself used during his seige on Alesia. He builds a 1,500 ft high wall around Athenae to block Probus' forces from leaving and to keep resources from reaching the city. Probus hoped that reinforcements would arrive, but recieves news that the seperatist council is unable to send any more troops since the western forces re-conquered Moesia and were getting closer to Byzantium itself. Probus attacks Hadrian's forces in a last resort attempt but loses as Hadrian's army ounumbers his by 10 to 1. Probus finally surrenders and Achaea falls back under the control of Rome. On the tape the sniper had said that he had no choice but to execute Felt because Felt was a traitor and the government wasn't going to do anything about it. The sniper makes a point of saying that no one paid him to shoot Felt, but that he considered it was his duty as a "Patriotic" American to shoot Felt. The sniper tried to excuse his violence against the Iowa State Patrol trooper by saying the officer backed him into a corner. He ended his dictation right before truck he had stolen broke down, saying that he was about to make the ultimate sacrifice for America.

The Canadian assault has now pushed US defense down to Georgia. At 5:00 PM ET, the US launches sixteen nuclear ICBMs at Toronto, Quebec City, Ottowa, and Vancouver. They detonate at the city centers killing over 50 million people. The Canadian Prime Minister urges Canadians not to give in, and refuses to withdraw troops.
