They overwhelm the King Tigers on the west side of Carantan, who are not expecting American tanks to match their own. Field Marshall Model, seeing that the Americans have developed a tank that can rival their own and still have most of their manufacturing capacity intact, is heard to say, "The war is over, it is only a matter of time".
Allied tanks decimate another formation of King Tigers just south of Cherbourg and proceed to liberate the town. Its desperately needed port facilities are opened to the Allies within 48 hours while the tanks are turned south to help deal with the hedgerow crisis. The men are from Utah, California, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and even Mexico. They have all flocked here to join the Southern army. On this day, shipments of French rifled muskets arrive by wagon from the south along with two 10 pounder smoothbore cannons. The shipment includes accoutrements and just over a ton of black powder.
