While nothing has happened in Australia and New Zealand as of yet, the public, government, and military are keeping a close eye on things in the British Isles, and some US intelligence analists think that if Britain drops out of the war or switches sides, these two countries may follow suit. Thus, on the date of Julius Caesar's assassination, the Senate elects Marcus Cocceius Nerva, a young and popular Senator, as the new Roman Emperor. However, shortly after his accession, Emperor Nerva learns that Titus, the first son of Vespasian, secretly plots to kill Nerva. On Fox News Sunday, the panel discusses the event: ***TRANSCRIPT BEGINS*** CHRIS WALLACE: Some words of wisdom, or not, from our panel. Ellis Henican, Staff columnist for Newsday; Bill Sammon, the Washington Times White House Correspondent; Fox News correspondent Megyn Kendall; and Brit Hume, host of Special Report, Fox News contributors all. Let's start with the one that's got all the tongues wagging. Linda Park, the President's girlfriend -- MEGYN KENDALL: Trekkies use the term Par'machkai, I think. WALLACE: I'm not even going to try to repeat that. (laughter) Anyway, she is pregnant, yet she and the President have no plans to marry. Comments? ELLIS HENICAN: I don't think it's a big deal. I mean, they're together, so it's not like the child won't have a family life or that she'll be raising it on her own. BRIT HUME: But aren't they supposed to show an example? After all, President Harris campaigned in part on his respect for traditional family values. BILL SAMMON: Just because you respect something doesn't mean you have to follow it. HUME: But it sets a bad example. While the term 'bastard' isn't the stigma it used to be, it's not something one wants to saddle a child with. HENICAN: But you just said it's not a stigma. HUME: But what kind of message does it send? The trends in children born to unwed parents have been steadily increasing. Many have a real fear that this will accelerate this trend. SAMMON: I guess it depends on how you define family. A lot of people just don't think you need a ceremony and license to have a marriage anymore. Indeed, the District of Columbia and fifteen other states still recognize common-law marriage. HUME: But a lot of people do think you need at least a license. Sure, fifteen states recognize common-law marriages, but 35 states don't. And the President hadid, point-blank, that they don't intend to get married. WALLACE: Megyn, do you have anything to say about this? KENDALL: What the traditionalists fail to mention is that children born to cohabiting parents spend nearly as much of their childhoods in two-parent homes as those born to married parents. The only real difference is that their parents have different last names. HUME: Yet some don't, and unless the President and Miss Park make legal arrangements, his rights as a father would end should they ever break up. WALLACE: Yesterday, Pope Benedict said that (graphic) "The President, as a moral leader for America, is bound by duty and honor to provide a true, pious and stable family for his child. The only way he can do this is by entering into Holy Matrimony with Miss Park. Should the President fail to do this, I cannot respect him as a man or a leader." HENICAN: A lot of Americans don't agree with that anymore. HUME: Yet enough do that I think it'll end up costing the President in the long run. ***TRANSCRIPT ENDS*** | Previous Event Next Event

On March 15, the Emperor announced the disbanding of the current senate and replacing it with a new senate body that would represent every state within the Roman Empire and not just the Romans living in Rome itself. The new Senate would consist of two senators per each state, serving a term of six years with re-election unlimited. The former members of the original senate were compensated with other political offices in Rome or Italia, while many others pursued business and capitalism, realizing that it would be far better to make a fortune in the ever-prospering empire rather than uselessly oppose an Emperor so beloved by the people and the military. The new Senate was given legislative duties, while the newly created Supreme Justice Court would take on the judicial duties, and the Consul and Vice-Consul (offices now set for a four-year term, limited amount of terms: 2), while the Emperor (naturally) retained all branches of authority and thus supreme power over the Roman Empire. | 1977 | 3346 Add An Event | As the sun rises over New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, a new era dawns in American aviation as two Lockheed L-2000 Superstars prepare to inaugurate the first-ever supersonic passenger flights by an American-built airliner. Pan Am’s Superstar, dubbed “Super Clipper America”, is located at Pan Am’s Worldport (JFK Terminal 3). The 315-foot long plane sports Pan Am’s familiar “globe” logo on its tail. Meanwhile, at one of the gates of Eero Saarinen’s futuristic TWA terminal (Terminal 5), a TWA Superstar, whose appearance is a fitting complement to the terminal building, is ready to be boarded. Its tail features TWA’s newly unveiled logo with the familiar twin-globe design plus drawings of two Lockheed aircraft, the Superstar and its famous predecessor the Constellation (which TWA retired nearly ten years earlier). A TWA Constellation, temporarily brought out of retirement for the occasion, sits on the tarmac nearby. The two airlines each hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies attended by many notables such as New York City mayor Abraham Beame.
At 8:02 AM Eastern time, Pan Am Flight 1 and TWA Flight 2000, each carrying a full load of 250 passengers in similar two-class layouts, depart from their respective gates. The two planes taxi to the ends of parallel runways and take off simultaneously. Almost 40 minutes later, the two planes are cruising 65,000 feet over the Atlantic at speeds of over Mach 2.4 (1,584 mph).
About two and a half hours after takeoff, the “American Concordes”, as they have become known as to the locals, appear in the skies above England and France. The TWA plane is the first to arrive, landing at London Heathrow at 3:50 PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Eight minutes later (4:58 PM Paris time), the Pan Am Superstar arrives at Paris’ new Charles de Gaulle International Airport. Discuss This Timeline (0 Entries So Far) | Previous Event

While pretending to show favor in an alliance with the Egyptians by adopting Caesarion, marrying Julia to Caesarion, and creating a strong friendship with Cleopatra, Augustus secretly promoted a growing opposition to an alliance with the decadent and potentially dangerous Egyptian Kingdom. Augustus' spies sneak Julia out of Alexandria and back to Rome. After declaring Caesarion to be a false heir to Caesar, Augustus invades Egypt with a large armada. Kennedy should have heeded the advice of "Beware the Ides of March." UPI reporter Seymour Hersh publishes a scathing book, "The Dark Side of Glory," which suggests some truly disturbing things about JFK. It says that he and Chicago mob boss Sam Giancana not only had business dealings but shared a girlfriend, Judith Campbell. It also says that JFK was married in the 1940s, a union that was quickly annulled. It also alleges numerous affairs, beyond the known one with Washington Post writer Sally Quinn. Most of the women mentioned are famous actresses, including Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Angie Dickinson, Ann-Margret, Gene Tierney, the late Marilyn Monroe, even, while JFK was a young Senator, Grace Kelly, now Princess Grace of Monaco. Representatives from many of the women mentioned quickly come forward to deny the charges. This terror attack, coming only months after the violence of the Christmas Week riots, further poisons the reputation of the Nazi Party. Top businessmen now fear that aiding the Nazis may lead to social chaos, perhaps even revolution; memories of the Nazis’ abortive putsch in Munich in 1923 are still relatively fresh, and it does not escape notice that the Party now has a lot more troops and guns than it did at that time. Military officers, including the aged but still influential General Paul von Hindenburg and his former deputy Erich Ludendorff, also begin to question the wisdom of backing a political movement seemingly unable to maintain internal discipline. Business and military leaders begin quietly considering alternatives to the Nazis.
