In response to a question about Harris' appearance and lack of a wife, Linda Park comments, "I wouldn't mind spending some time with the senator. Sure, he could lose some weight, but I think he's cute." The rest of the town hall meeting establishes that, while Riffle is somewhat more liberal than Harris on foreign policy, the two largely see eye-to-eye on most topics, to the point where one questioner comments that as long as both names were on the ticket, they'd get the votes of everyone present.
Also, for the first time, both candidates' Secret Service details are allowed to have fun in the performance of their duties. Many, though not all, enlist the help of a number of makeup and costume artists, appearing at the convention as various species from the Star Trek continuity, with the most common being Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, and Borg. To assist in identifying each other, all of the costumes are primarily bright blue, harkening back to the conventions of the 1970's and 80's, when security was commonly provided by a group of volunteers known as the Klingon Diplomatic Corps/Dorsai Irregulars (who dressed in similar bright blue uniforms).
